I went to Barangaroo after an interview!

I was on high, as I felt good after a job interview that I decided its time to explore! First I went to Balmain to find lunch and coffee at around 3 pm. I started my search at the  main street on both sides of the pathway. I could find lunch but no coffee or coffee without good lunch offering at the same venue. I couldn't believe it! You can find food in pubs but there is no coffee or coffee in the cafes or restaurants but no lunch as their kitchen closed. On that day I wanted the coffee and lunch at the same time, so I looked from the top of the street to the bottom of the street, mind you I was looking only for vegetarians dishes or dishes with Fish. I ended up finding an Italian restaurant/cafe, not my first choice the dish which was on offer but it'll do. It was basic vegetarian lasagne dish I offered to pay immediately (there was no display of the price and she didn't volunteer how much it'll cost), she said to pay her later and I also ordered a coffee. I ate my meal and was surprised to pay $20 in the end especially the meal was on the smallish side with no salad.

For me when I'm exploring an Urban suburb especially if I visit it the first time I make a point to check their food too. I consider it part of the City Urban Explorer expedience and the pleasure to enjoy the taste of food. I would've enjoyed Balmain more if I went in the morning. When Coffee and food offerings are together! And are offered at multiple places. Big surprise Balmain is a McDonald virgin or fast food for that matter, not that I was looking for fast food. Why the Cafes don't offer lunch/dinner until 5 pm especially if they are still selling coffee! The kitchen is closed they say. Where's the food! Memeing the song where's the love. I'm sure maybe there is logical business sense. Just close at 3 pm and don't entice us with coffee without food, which probably what they were doing, too early. What's the point!

The next pit stop as they say in The Amazing Race was Barangaroo. The beginning of Barangaroo is thriving high rise buildings with retail shops and restaurants. The further down you walk in it, it changes to natural and man made walks with native plants and the ocean on the other side. If I lived close by I would've walk it everyday. I didn't encounter any dogs! It is well lit at night. This was my first visit where I completed the full Barangaroo walk.

Moral of the story never ever go Urban Exploring after a job interview, hide under a rock and hope for the best! As you might have guessed, I didn't get it.

It is always tempting to go Urban Exploring or walking with direction or without direction somewhere after big life changing experience. To let off some steam. To reflect and recollect. The day was sunny & beautiful the temperature was just right not too hot or cold.

Maybe we will always Urban Explore no matter what life throw at us. But personally I would not go out after a job interview. Few years back I went to a job interview and I went afterwards to a cinema. Guess what I didn't get that job either.

Highly recommend visits to Balmain and Barangaroo. Pick your favourite time and activity.

The tree is where the heart is

When I was walking by this path, I noticed this picturesque image. I'm glad I took this photo, it's been a long while, since I was there. A picture framed by a heart. This is the time I wish I'm a painter.    If a picture is worth a thousand words, these could be the candidates, it is hard to say this, coming from a wannabe writer. Fewer written words this time, with this beauty I'm speechless. Photo credits: my own photos Location:  Blackburn Gardens, Sydney

City Urban Explorer first launch

Why City Urban Explorer ? Originally I wanted the blog name Urban Explorer but someone else already has it. I have the name Urban Explorer in my mind for at least few years, when one day I was enjoying my walk in the City looking at the houses' architecture and checking out any interesting nook and crannies in the city for me to explore. The other reasons for creating City Urban Explorer blog are I love nature but I'm too scared to explore it, my reasons are I'm scared to get lost, fear from unleashed dogs, wild animals, murderers, snakes, spiders the list is long. To explore nature I need money and to be exploring it with a group. I'm inspired by nature and adventure explorers but I don't have that fearless nature, and to write authentically on nature and adventure, you have to talk the talk and walk the walk. I find the City safer to walk and explore than walking in parks, no unleashed dogs. With cars, trains, and buses and the city urban laws on no unlea...
